How To Enjoy Delicious Quality Gourmet Coffee At Home

Coffee is a favorite beverage around the world. Morning, noon, or night a fresh cup of coffee is satisfying. In recent years we have been introduced to a wide array of coffees include gourmet. Gourmet coffee is considered gourmet because it is freshly ground from the coffee beans. Learning to make a great cup of gourmet coffee at home is deeply satisfying and simple as long as you keep in mind a few simple tips.

For the best flavor you should purchase whole coffee beans from specialty shops only. Although larger grocery stores are starting to carry coffee beans, the specialty shops beans tend to be fresher and therefore have more flavors.

When you grind your coffee beans only grind enough for current needs. This will keep the coffee fresh longer. If you don't have a grinder and buy the ground coffee, keep it in an airtight container. I t is important to close the bag or container tightly to keep the aroma in the coffee. Keep the coffee in a cool dry place, if you keep it in the refrigerator or freezer keeps it away from foods which produce a strong odor. The flavors may mix making the coffee bitter tasting. Try to use you coffee up in a few days to two weeks since coffee loses flavor quickly.

Water from the tap is fine although some people swear by fresh bottled spring water. No matter which type of water you choose, always use the coldest water possible. Water contains more oxygen the colder it is making the coffee richer and more flavorful. Do not use distilled water as it produces a flat cup of coffee.

Measuring your coffee is more a matter of taste than anything else. Generally it is recommended 1 teaspoon of coffee for every six ounces of water. Don't trust the measurements on your coffeemaker. Measure out the water to get the best tasting gourmet coffee.

When brewing, the best cup of gourmet coffee is brewed using the manual drip method, a French press pot, or a vacuum pot. Traditional drip pots do an okay job but vary greatly from each other. Some of the best coffeepots are quite expensive but well worth the money. Your coffee should only be kept warm on the burner for twenty minutes, after that it will become bitter. You should brew your coffee no more than five minutes before you plan to drink it, after that transfer the coffee to a thermos or carafe.

Drinking gourmet coffee black will preserve the most flavor. Using creamer in your coffee will produce a richer creamier taste. Skim milk will not change the taste much unless you add a lot, therefore is not recommended. If you would like to add sugar raw sugar will add sweeter flavor than white. For artificial sweeteners Splenda is recommended as other sweeteners will add a bitter taste to your coffee.

Making a gourmet cup of coffee at home is pleasing and easy to do. The flavor and aroma will satisfy you as well as stepping into your favorite specialty shop. Enjoy your gourmet coffee to the fullest by following these tips!

Don't Let Gourmet Cooking Intimidate You - Enjoy the Adventure

It doesn't matter what your cooking level is, gourmet cooking is something you can do. Not only can you do it you can also enjoy it.

You don't need to have attended a fancy culinary school or studied with some famous chef; all it takes is confidence. Confidence comes with practice.

All right, maybe you need more than just confidence but it's a great place to start. Furthermore the more you cook the more you will improve your cooking skills.

Gourmet cooking has just about everything to do with the food. You'll want to use the freshest of ingredients and try layering flavors in what you're making.

Plating or how you present your food is also very important. This is something more than just a meal slopped on a plate. Presentation plays a significant role.

You're going to want to let your creativity shine through your cooking. Mix flavors that you may not traditionally think of pairing together. Decorate your dinnerware with sprigs of herbs or sauce drizzled on in the empty space. All of the above will add that extra decoration making the final look wonderful.

With a little thinking outside of the box you can create a dish that will make your guests "ooh and aah". Not only will the food taste good it will also look great. Let the aroma of the food draw them in and capture them. It won't take much to discover the gourmet chef inside you.

All you have to do is open your mind to the possibilities and you will be surprised at how you do. More importantly enjoy the experience.

Enjoy Gourmet Meals For Singles Or Couples Prepared Easily, Quickly and Under Budget

Hey, singles and couples, do you want to dine like Emeril Lagasse on a Boston Market budget? As a self avowed foodie, I highly recommend a subscription to Gourmet Magazine. You cannot imagine how easy it is to prepare small portion, fabulous and delicious meals or huge feasts, fit for royalty, all in one gorgeously presented magazine! Let's consider a few small changes in how we plan and shop.

Guess what, cooking for only one or two people doesn't doom you to TV and prepared, corporate designed food. A little planning can change your dining experience from pre-made, easy, soulless heat and eat grub to easy and exciting dishes that are nutritious, tasty and easy on the pocketbook.

If you usually cook for only one or two people - or if members of your family rarely have time to eat together, here's how to plan healthy meals for one or two, reduce the wasted food, and discover delicious and fun ways that small-quantity cooking can be made easier, healthier and more interesting and cost effective.

Here's something that works for me, if I remember to and that's to never go food shopping when you're hungry. Impulse buys such as junk food and TV dinners just seem to fall into your cart with a mind of their own, since, after all, you're only cooking for one or two and the convenience factor is an easy out. Not to mention that a lot of that stuff looks far better than it tastes when you get it home. A few key points will make a big difference in eating as well as you can without breaking your food budget.

Shop with convenience in mind. Purchase foods that are individually frozen, such as fruits, vegetables, chicken breasts or fish fillets. These foods allow you to thaw out only the amount you need. Also, low-fat frozen meals and prepackaged single-serving foods, such as ready-to-eat, low-fat, reduced-sodium canned soups are tasty as well as budget friendly.

One great way is to cook a large quantity of your favorite dish, for example, make a casserole or stew and freeze individual-size servings. Then take out only the amount of food you need. Be sure to write the date and contents on packages and move older packages forward as you add food to your freezer.

Plan meals so that you can use the extra food in new dishes, such as rice as a side dish for one meal, then using the remainder in a casserole or rice pudding. Bake chicken breasts for a meal and use the rest in sandwiches, soup or a stir-fry. I like to make a meatloaf mixture and bake some as a meatloaf and freeze the uncooked portion for later use in meatballs. Use any remaining mixture for spaghetti and or Marinara sauces or countless other meat fillers.

There are a lot of cookbooks that are geared to small meals or one or two people. Gourmet cookbooks abound as well as conventional and region specific recipes, as well as providing practical advice and helpful tips on such things as selecting healthy foods, planning menus, shopping and reading food labels. There is a big difference between eating versus dining, and it's no more extra work or expense if done right. Bon appetit' and thanks for reading.

I specialize in general interest short article content, especially for my own content sites. I love to write and I look forward to contributing many many more submissions, hoping people will find some useful or entertaining info. http://www.healthcontentsite.com

How to Enjoy French Food

When Americans think of fine dining, one of the first foods that come to mind id French food. French food is synonymous with "haute cuisine". French food differs greatly by the different regions in France. In this article I will highlight for you briefly some of the regions of France and the food that is typical for that region.

First, Champagne, this region is best known for the sparkling wine that comes from this region, but fine wine is not all it is known for. Champagne is part of 3 regions that are known for their fine gourmet French food. Lorraine is known for its for its wonderful fruits and is most famous for quiche. A baked dish made from eggs, cream, and pastry.

Secondly Paris who doesn't think of Paris when we speak of French food. Paris is famous for all French delicacies as well as for food from countries all over the world. A Paris restaurant can offer you a wonderful selection of meat broiled or stewed in a tasty sauce. All over Paris you can find wonderful seafood restaurants serving fresh shell fish over ice. No city serves better Mussels then those found in little Bistros in Paris. You will find dishes such as escargot {snails} that are so popular in Paris as well as a whole pigs foot on your dish. Everyday in Paris you can find something wonderful and new to try. From the very unusual to the fine everyday sandwiches sold on the street.

Third, Brittany and Normandy because of their close proximity to the ocean have outstanding seafood. The Brittany are has a fine assortment of lobster, crayfish and mussels. Normandy in the north has a wonderful selection scallops, and sole. Normandy also has many great fruit trees, especially apple trees that allow them to have wonderful baked goods as well as ciders.

Fourth, Burgundy and Bordeaux are known for the finest of wines. This region is also home to Dijon mustard famous served with many French food. This area is also known for fine poultry, river pike and many sweet treats. Where ever you dine on French Gourmet food you are in for a real treat.

Why Children Should Enjoy Gourmet Ingredients, And Why It Doesn't Cost The Earth

One of the problems with gourmet ingredients is that so many people tend to assume that they're really more for adults than for children. By seeing gourmet food and cooking in this way not only are people denying children the right to experience real, genuine tastes, but they may well be setting children up as fussy eaters.

Now don't assume that by this I mean that families should head out and start buying crates of highly expensive gourmet ingredients, because that's going to the complete opposite extreme. There is however a perfectly manageable happy medium in which families can help engage children with food and cooking in a positive way that may well have a lasting effect on their attitude towards food for years to come.

Indeed, often it is the habits and opinions we have based on our taste experiences as children which sets us on a fairly rigid track for the rest of our lives. So it's important to get this right, whilst at the same time being very aware that this is not the time for overspending on lavish and unnecessary ingredients.

But to understand why gourmet ingredients can be made both affordable and accessible it's best to consider a couple of examples. Clearly you're not going to win your children over by serving up your best foi gras, nicely complimented by a side plate of wilted spinach. But this isn't what gourmet ingredients are necessarily about.

For example, a worrying number of children actually seem to think that vanilla ice cream means ice cream without any extra flavouring. The same goes for yoghurt. It seems that so many children see vanilla not as a flavour, or even as an ingredient, but as an alternative word to 'plain'. Why not for a change introduce children to a vanilla seed pod? Just showing them where the vanilla flavour comes from, and then using this in cooking, perhaps to make a cake, would get children to start thinking about ingredients and words a little differently.

Another idea is pizza, because almost every child enjoys this! By getting the children involved with making their own pizza at home you can introduce them to inexpensive gourmet ingredients and herbs very easily. You can of course make your own pizza dough (and there are several variations of this, including whole wheat crust) or you can buy pizza dough from the shop.

Ingredients to try include things such as sun dried tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and perhaps some basil and olive oil. By using quality, fresh ingredients you can create a nutritious, healthy meal that tastes great, is relatively inexpensive, and helps introduce children to gourmet food in a way that could help set them up for life.

If you're looking for affordable gourmet ingredients then I strongly recommend taking a look at The Good Food Network. Not only is it a great place to buy French food and ingredients, but there's also plenty of advice and recipes too.

What Are Great Food Gift Ideas That Anyone Will Enjoy?

When you think of Thanksgiving, a big juicy turkey usually comes to mind, Valentines Day makes you think about chocolates and Christmas conjures up images of cookies. Putting together some type of food gift is a great idea for a present, whether it's for a birthday or for a Christmas present. If you know the person well, then put together a food gift basket of all their favorite goodies, or if you do not know them that well you can always include a few items that most everyone enjoys.

Giving this type of present can be fairly inexpensive, yet it will still show you cared enough to take the time to put it together. For example, if you need gifts for your coworkers, then use a recipe for simple spiced party nuts and create different ways to wrap them. You can use a mesh materiel tied up with a pretty bow or go to the dollar store and buy several different types of tins or bottles. Be sure to give everyone a different wrap and they will be a big hit.

There is no set rule pertaining to the types of food that may be used as gifts. It can be anything from simple home-made recipes to gourmet food baskets. Consider using a few unique recipes to put together a food gift that shows everyone that you put a great deal of thought and time into their gift. Perhaps you can make some homemade jams or preserves and can them in different styles of jars. You have probably seen those gifts in the stores that have cookie or cocoa mixes in a jar, so consider using your favorite recipes to produce something similar.

For the holidays, consider putting together some Christmas gift baskets for friends and relatives. Be creative in your choices; it shows them how much you appreciate them when you take the time to put something like this together. Fruit baskets are a great idea for grandparents and for the wine connoisseur on your list, consider giving them a wine gift basket.

Everyone knows that the smell of gingerbread baking is a sure sign that the Christmas holidays are here, so why not expand on that for some of your gift giving needs. For example, you can gather all the ingredients together that are needed for gingerbread cookies, place them in a basket with your favorite gingerbread recipe. Or you can go the extra mile and bake a gingerbread house, which is a great idea for a food gift that will be enjoyed by everyone.

Great Outside, Great Inside - Hiking and Gourmet Food - Enjoy!

Taking a walking/hiking holiday or short break is of course a healthy, refreshing way of really appreciating the beauty and sights of a new environment. As we mentioned in our previous post, there are many advantages of doing this with a local guide. But one, very significant advantage that will actually be more relevant AFTER the walking is knowing the best places to EAT - and in Mallorca you are spoilt for choice.

Mallorca through the centuries has always had many cultural influences - many times brought by conquering armies and more recently through a more civilised source with tourism. These cultural influences have also brought their culinary influences and Mallorca is now home to hundreds of different styles and tastes from Fast Food to the highest levels of gourmet cuisine.

Five restaurants have been awarded the prestigious Michelin Star in Mallorca for 2011 - two of them being new awards. But great food is not limited to the excellence of the Michelin chefs. Mallorca has a strong history of excellent food and also a very versatile use of the unlikeliest food items particularly from it's farming roots of previous centuries.

The pig was and still is a popular ingredient to many local dishes including the now famous sobrasada; the very popular roasted suckling pig and also variations of the Frito Mallorquin which is a descendant of the poorest families' staple diet in olden days.

Pa amb oli is another Mallorquin favourite with varied platters. These are usually cold dish choices with either a meat or cheese selection (but can also be fish) served with a thinly sliced rustic Mallorcan bread; olive oil; ramallet (spreading) tomatoes, garlic and sea salt. Simply crush the thin skinned 'ramallet' tomatoes with a garlic clove, sea salt and a generous glug of olive oil and serve on a slab of rustic bread. A variety of toppings can then be added from slices of locally cured hams, chorizos and sobrasadas or cheese. This meal choice is particularly popular through the summer and can last for hours along with great conversation and some superb Mallorquin wines.

The Mediterranean diet also includes many fresh salads and there are lots of local markets serving a wonderful array of home grown fruits and vegetables. Together with the local olive oil and the now famous Flor de Sal flavoured sea salts from Ses Salines - another great meal combination.

Fresh seafood is also very popular in Mallorca. The fishing ports of Andratx, Soller and Palma itself still holds fresh fish markets daily, direct from the returning fishing boats. The age old custom of the fishermen sitting repairing their nets with the gulls floating overhead still continues today. Everybody has their special fish restaurant to recommend but my favourite (and many others for over 30 years) is Casa Manolo's in Ses Salines.

Preparing for your visit to Mallorca there are many authoritative web sites now dedicated purely to your gastronomic enjoyment whilst here on the island. Our recommendation for the widest and most current range of information, news and even video interviews with the chefs and owners of the hundreds of venues you can visit is the award winning Sky Blue Mallorca

Do not be daunted by this incredible choice and the gastronomic delights that await you in Mallorca - your guides are well equipped to help you make the best choices during your stay. But we have to warn you - you'll definitely need to return for more!!

How to Enjoy Gourmet Foods For a Fraction of the Cost

Gourmet foods are the best quality foods and they are wonderful to try. Gourmet foods however have a gourmet price tag and not many people can afford to dine on fine food all the time.

Since gourmet ingredients are a lot more economical than eating out at top restaurants, what about making some delicious gourmet recipes at home? You can make seafood dishes, meat dishes, and even gourmet pizza recipes by dressing up classic favorites and making them extra special.

Some of the Most Expensive Gourmet Foods

Saffron is a delicate flavored spice, which is harvested from the saffron crocus flower. It takes between fifty thousand and seventy five thousand flowers to make one pound of dry saffron, which is why it has a price tag of between five hundred dollars and five thousand dollars per pound. You only need a tiny bit of saffron to flavor a recipe though.

Beluga caviar is a well known gourmet food and this caviar comes from a fish, which is more than a hundred years old. This type of fish has been around for about a hundred and twenty million years, making this caviar a product of a dinosaur era survivor. If you want to sample beluga caviar for yourself, expect to pay more than two thousand dollars per pound.

You might not consider potatoes to be a gourmet food but La Bonnotte is an almost extinct French variety, grown on the Noirmoutier island. Only one hundred tons of La Bonnotte potatoes are grown each year and the potato fields need to be fertilized by a special type of local seaweed. These potatoes cost about three hundred dollars per pound.

How to Transform a Plain Food into a Gourmet Dish

If the above foods are out of your price bracket, rest assured that it is possible to transform the plainest food into a delicacy by altering some of the ingredients, using the best ingredients you can get, and taking care with the cooking and presentation. Think of chicken nuggets, for example. These humble little fried pieces of chicken can be transformed into a gourmet dish.

To make a tasty horseradish dip, which perhaps suits gourmet chicken nuggets better than ketchup, combine a cup of sour cream with a couple of tablespoons of prepared white horseradish and season it to taste. Serve this dip chilled, with the chicken nuggets. The following recipe makes enough for four people as an entree or eight people as an appetizer.

Gourmet Chicken Nuggets Recipe

You will need:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup grated Romano cheese
1 1/2 cups fine breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

How to make it:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a pair of baking sheets with aluminum foil. Cut the chicken breasts into 1 inch cubes. Mix the breadcrumbs, cheese, salt, pepper, oregano, and thyme in a Ziploc bag and shake it well.

Dip the chicken in the oil, and then roll it in the crumb mixture in the Ziploc bag. Bake the chicken on aluminum foil covered baking sheets for 10 minutes, then serve them with a dip.

Fine food does not have to cost the earth. If you like to eat well and you enjoy combining top quality ingredients with your favorite classic recipes, what about making some gourmet pizza recipes? A few gourmet toppings can transform a humble pizza into something amazing. There are plenty of delicious types of pizza and healthy recipes you can make.

Enjoy Healthy Gourmet Coffee Beverages

If you are a gourmet coffee drinker then this will come as a pleasant surprise to you. A relatively new company Organo Gold has introduced a "healthy" coffee product on the market. The company is known to focus on products that promote good health. In addition to coffee they also offer nutritional supplements, soap balms, gourmet hot chocolate and gourmet organic tea. All of their products are infused with the super herb Ganoderma and therefore get the benefits that come from it. Their gourmet coffee offerings include gourmet latte, gourmet mocha and of course gourmet black coffee.

What Is Ganoderma?

The super herb called Ganoderma is actually a mushroom known as Reishi. It has been used in eastern medicine for well over four thousand years. This mushroom used to be so rare that there was a time it was worth a lot more then gold. Because of it's rarity in the past it was reserved exclusively for use by royalty. It has been known to promote or enhance vitality, good health and virility. Organo Gold holds exclusive marketing rights to this super herb. In addition to it's known healing properties the other thing wonderful about this substance is that it is tasteless. This is how it can be infused into the gourmet beverages that Organo Gold markets with no loss in taste.

Organo Gold Coffees

The one thing that is shared by all of their coffee products is the use of premium ingredients. In this case that means only the finest Arabica coffee beans. All of these are organically grown which means no pesticides and they are actually hand selected.

Gourmet Black Coffee

This product has been known for it's very rich flavor and aroma. If this is what you like then savor this version even more because it has bee infused with Ganoderma.

Gourmet Mocha Coffee

If you like this kind of coffee then you know the difference between an ordinary cup and an excellent cup of this tasty beverage. The Organo gold version is blended with the milk, sugar and some of the finest cocoa in the world. Of course it is also infused with Ganoderma so it not only taste great but it is a healthy beverage.

Gourmet Latte Coffee

Having a cup of a great tasting latte coffee beverage is a gourmet coffee drinkers dream. The version offered here is beautifully mixed with sugar, cream and of course Ganoderma. After tasting it it is awe inspiring to know that something that tastes like that can actually be health enhancing.

If you haven't figured it out by now the beverage industry has been revolutionized by Organo's health offerings. In addition to providing a number of exciting coffee flavors they also provide gourmet hot chocolate and gourmet organic green tea. So now you can have your health and great taste. It really comes down to the powerful antioxidants present in the Ganoderma that does the trick.

Next, you have learned a lot about Healthy Gourmet Beverages but will you do anything with the information? Your health should be important enough to act on. Surf to the Gourmet Coffee Beverages website for even more information
