Christmas Gourmet Gift Baskets

With Christmas just being around the corner you have to start planning early as to what gifts you are going to give your friends and family. Instead of having to sit down and make lists of the gifts you are going to buy or perusing the malls all hours of the day and night why not give everyone Christmas gourmet gift baskets. This is a gift that everyone will enjoy and this kind of gift is something that people would not normally treat themselves to.

There is two ways of making a Christmas gift basket up, either you can do this yourself or you can order a gift gourmet basket directly online. Online there is an array of different gift baskets to choose from and all you need do is fill out an application and make your choice of basket as well as supple the person name, address and phone number for deliver, make your payment and the online shop will do the rest. If you choose to do this yourself then here are some tips on how to put together a gift basket which your family and friends will truly enjoy.

• Firstly you need to determine what type of Christmas gourmet gift baskets you would like to put together. This about what the people you are making then up for really enjoys. You could make baskets up that contain a variety of chocolates and nuts. You could also do a cheese and wine basket or a basket that has Christmas cake and pudding as well as brandy sauce etc.

• Compile a list of items for each of your family members and friends and add items such as games, glasses, cups etc to each basket. This will depend entirely on what foods you have chosen to add to the baskets. For instance if you choose a cheese and wine basket, then you could add an assortment of crackers and nuts as well as wine glasses. If you choose a chocolate gourmet basket then add light and dark chocolate treats as well as biscuits and maybe a game.

Visit wholesale stores such as Marshall's or TJ Maxx where you can buy really good cheap baskets. There are many different designs and sizes to choose from and are reasonably priced. Then start buying the foods you have itemized on your list such as chocolates, nuts, raisins, dried fruit, crackers etc. Buy your wine from a wholesaler as well, and you can even add a bottle of Amarula or any other aperitifs which will cost you under $15. If you have a long list that gifts need to be bought for, then buy a case of wine which will work out far cheaper. You could also buy an array of various different types of cheeses which come from around the world and add savory crackers, crisps, nuts and dried fruit with a bottle or two of wine.

Christmas gourmet gift baskets can also be personalized by adding something that the person is interested in such as an interest or hobby. Gift vouchers can also be added to basket. Basket gifts for men can have tools as well as various other mens products added in. The lists for gift baskets are endless.

Gourmet Christmas Gift Baskets

Gourmet Christmas gift baskets can literally be made of any type of ingredient as there are no hard and fast set rules when it comes to a gift gourmet basket. You can be as creative as you possibly can when packing these baskets for your family and friends. You can make up a theme basket such as Italian foods or Mexican foods. You can make up coffee gift baskets, chocolate gourmet baskets, traditional Christmas baskets and much more. You can even make up romantic gourmet baskets for newlywed couples as well as yourself.

The most difficult gift baskets to make up are usually for the men. Well not really as you can include an array of useful and practical items that can be used around the house as well as in the garage. Included in a gift basket for men you can include some high tech screw drivers, or maybe a tool that they have been wanting. In addition you can add two bottles of their favorite wine or a bottle of whiskey. Then add crackers, cheeses, mustards, sausages, salami, crisps etc. This will be a well accepted gift by any man.

For instance you could also buy an ice bucket instead of a basket and fill it will lots of little items for the bar area, such as nuts, chocolates and bar edibles. You could also include fancy ice cube trays and unique stirring sticks. Or you could include a set of wine or brandy glasses. There are endless ideas when it comes to making up Christmas gift gourmet baskets.

You could make a traditional gourmet basket for the whole family, which will save you from buying individual gifts. You could include a smoked turkey, Christmas cake and pudding, chocolates, fresh and dried fruit, an assortment of nuts, three or four bottles of wine, a packet of Christmas crackers and a smoked gammon. You could add a set of serviettes and a matching table cloth or table decorations such as candles and a fresh flower arrangement.

For some of your friends you could make a gourmet basket that contains about six or more different cheese varieties, gourmet crackers, a bottle of choice wine and then add a small cheese board and knife or some wine glasses.

Once you have purchased your baskets line them with a decorative serviette and arrange the items in the basket. Once you have completed the arrangement than sprinkle some decorative confetti over the items and wrap the basket in cellophane and tie off with a ribbon.

You could also create a gourmet gift Christmas basket that could be used for a Christmas picnic. These types of gifts are always well received by any person and will always be remembered. They are easy to prepare and cost effective. If you find you don't have the time to make the basket gifts up yourself, just shop online and order from one of the many websites that offer gift baskets. You can choose the baskets you like and the shop will prepare as well as deliver the basket gifts.

How Gourmet Ingredients Can Make Your Meals Extraordinary This Christmas

As the Christmas season is very much upon us it's time to think about the sort of meals, buffets, dinners and nibbles you'll have available for yourself, your family, friends, and anyone else who might happen to drop in for a little festive food. Gourmet ingredients are one way to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, and that, after all, is very much in keeping with the Christmas season.

We take an ordinary tree, and we transform it into something extraordinary, by lighting it up, dressing it in tinsel, adorning it with baubles and crowning it with a star. We take an ordinary day, and we make it extraordinary through traditions, gifts, making time to be together and discovering yet again that no one's planned ahead to think of some great titles for charades. Why not take ordinary meals, snacks and buffets and make them extraordinary by adding one or two gourmet ingredients?

It's funny, but when most people head off to the shops or online to buy ingredients it tends to be for the ordinary, popular, vanilla ingredients which everybody tends to use every day of the year, because they're convenient, cheap and familiar. But in fact it doesn't have to take a great deal to take ordinary meals and make them extraordinary. With just a little bit of thought, and a few tips here and there, anyone, regardless of their cooking prowess, can transform a meal by purchasing gourmet ingredients in place of their usual ones.

Many people tend to think that gourmet food and ingredients is for celebrity chefs, those people who cook in five star Michelin restaurants or who have a chain of fine restaurants throughout Europe. However, this is certainly not the case, and when it comes to going out, or going online, to buy ingredients, it needn't be difficult to benefit from a little extra quality here and there.

One of the other reasons people tend to give when explaining why they don't tend to buy gourmet ingredients is that they don't know what to choose, they don't know what they're like or they don't understand the names (because they're in French). This is fair enough, but in fact not only are many online suppliers today offering a vast selection of high quality ingredients, they're also offering advice and information about how to choose the right ingredient, and how to use it in your own familiar recipes.

You don't have to throw away your cookbook and start cooking fancy food you need a degree in French just to pronounce; the trick with using gourmet ingredients is to use them exactly as you would your normal ingredients. It isn't you who has to change - the change will happen of its own accord thanks to the power, scent, flavour and quality of the gourmet ingredients you've bought.

As a simple example, you could try the following two simple switches, which won't be hard to do at all. However, not only will your taste buds thank you, but so will all your family and friends who benefit from the extraordinary changes:

- Dried Porcini Mushrooms - These are fantastic, and can easily be used in place of the rather tasteless, bland mushrooms sold by supermarkets. These are fabulous in dishes such as risottos, but be careful about the quantity you use. Porcini mushrooms are packed full of flavour, so you may need fewer than you would normally use. The dried mushrooms will absorb liquid quickly, becoming absolutely delicious. Discover the true flavour of mushrooms again!

- Goose Fat - This is another easy switch. If you love roast potatoes (and who doesn't?) then you simply must try swapping your usual fat for goose fat. Your potatoes will taste heavenly, be exceptionally crispy on the outside whilst fluffy on the inside.

These are two very simple ideas, but you can find many more online and from reputable retailers who will be happy to help you buy gourmet ingredients to transform your festive dishes from the ordinary to the extraordinarily tasty!

Business Christmas Gift Ideas: Why Specialty Food Is The Perfect Business Christmas Gift

Many people wouldn't guess, but some of the best business Christmas gift ideas are those which are edible. Bosses, employees and small and large businesses alike are often saddled with meaningless and useless gifts at the holiday time. However, food gifts always prove to be a big hit at company gift exchanges and parties, for boss's gifts, and at other business holiday functions.

If you're racking your brain trying to come up with business Christmas gift ideas, specialty foods are always a welcome gift. After all, who doesn't eat?

Depending on the recipient's likes and dislikes, you can personalize the gift enough so they think you put a lot of thought into it. And you don't have to know the person that well to get it right. For instance, if someone is a coffee and chocolate lover (as many of us are!), consider a gourmet coffee-infused chocolate candy gift. It's different enough to be special, yet special enough to be different!

If the recipient tends to be more of risk taker or enjoys trying new things, specialty hot sauces or a new set of spices will do the trick. Environmentalists will enjoy organic and fair trade food gifts, while diabetics will enjoy a special sugar-free artisan treat they can't get at the regular grocery store. And let's not forget our gluten-free friends! Many specialty food producers cater to those with special dietary restrictions.

Since artisan food producers normally specialize in a single line of products, their products are usually handmade, of a higher quality with fresher ingredients, and not churned out by a factory.

Another great example of business Christmas gift ideas are hampers. These can contain elements of gourmet food, special beverages, and baked goods. These are not only a hit at company functions, but also a hit with the families of your co-workers you are giving them to. Hampers can be decorated on the outside with whatever colors you see fit, and can include ribbon and lace. Wicker basket hampers are often a great idea, and give the gift more of a classy and thought out feel.

Gourmet and specialty food business Christmas gift ideas can range from savory to sweet, and from fancy delicacies to special cookies. Examples include things like hard-to-find specialty sea salts and truffle oils to rum pralines and nut brittles.

If you want to see looks of genuine delight on the faces of your boss and co-workers (or maybe even get a raise!), get gourmet business Christmas gifts prepared by local artisan food producers - they are always a welcome gift.

Raw Food Christmas Party

So, you've had enough of the conventional unhealthy food you've been eating on Christmas Day or Thanksgiving Day year in, year out? You want to be able to celebrate in style but you desire a different approach in the food department - a healthier approach.

You've decided to have a Raw Food Christmas party for a change but are not quite sure what you can make? Perhaps you are a raw foodist or just like the idea of eating fresh and healthy food for a change. You want to abandon the overcooked stodgy food that makes you feel tired and lethargic afterwards and reaching for the alcohol to digest it (well, acid is a corrosive force!)

The thing about raw food today is that it doesn't have to just be lettuce and fruit. Of course, that is very healthy but in temperate climates your body will eventually demand something more satisfying and filling. The answer is 'raw gourmet food'. There are numerous raw chefs and even novices out there creating a style of prepared raw food that is inventive, classy and delicious. Why not give it a try? All you need are a few basic ingredients: - fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and seasonings. You can elaborate later with raw cacao, coconut butter, raw sweeteners etc.

A raw fruit pie can be made by grinding 1 cup of whole nuts in a nut grinder or coffee grinder and then mixing with ½ cup soft dates. Press the mixture into a lined pie dish. For the filling, blend 2 bananas with ½ cup blueberries and ½ cup cashew nuts. Add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and blend until smooth. Pour the cream into your crust. Set in the fridge for up to an hour. You can also decorate the pie with fresh fruits. This is a very basic recipe but you would do well to get a raw food recipe book to master the art of creative gourmet raw food. You might also consider attending a raw food class where you will learn all the basics in raw cuisine. It's really quite simple once you become familiar with the ingredients. You can even make your own raw chocolate!

As an experienced plant food eater, what will I be making for my Raw Food Christmas Party this year?

*Apple Spice Punch

*Cream of Parsnip Soup with Petit Pain

*Pecan Nutloaf with Garlic Mushrooms and Pine Nut Sauce

*Honey Walnuts

*Chocolate Torte with Cream

*Festive Mince Pies with (B)randy Sauce

Over the New Year, I will make Mushroom Tarts, Crispy Kale, Cheesy Flax Crackers with Seed Cheese, Scottish Shortbread and Chocolates.

Is your mouth watering yet? You too could also create your very own raw festive feast for you and your family this year. Why not make Christmas and Thanksgiving a healthier celebration for everyone involved and include some tantalizing life-giving raw food on the menu? Once you've tried raw gourmet food, you will see how easy it is to eat healthily and still enjoy your food. So go on, try some raw food today. You and your loved ones deserve to be healthy. Have a happy and healthy festive time!

Gourmet Gifts For Christmas

Nowadays an ever increasing number of people are being forced to eat junk foods, simply because their lifestyle and job doesn't allow them the luxury of time in order to prepare their own meals. Yes, fast foods certainly do fill you up, but let's face it; they're not that tasty, and they're certainly not healthy for you.

In today's world a healthy diet is of the utmost importance if you intend staying in shape. Ironically, so many people still tend to believe that they virtually need to starve themselves in order to be on a healthy diet. The truth is however, a healthy diet should not only be able to help keep you in shape, but it should also allow you to feel great and full of energy.

Contrary to what many believe, attaining this sort of physical condition simply means that you need to start eating the proper foods, rather than restricting yourself to foods you don't like. The only way you'll ever be able to maintain a healthy diet is if you're eating foods which are not only appealing to the eyes, but which are also great tasting. But healthy food doesn't mean you have to miss out on gourmet foods.

For many people, the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions gourmet foods, is that they are extremely expensive and difficult to prepare. The truth is however, gourmet foods are not difficult to prepare, and there are in fact many which can be prepared even if you don't have many cooking skills.

Essentially, gourmet foods are simply foods which have been prepared by using good quality ingredients. One of the best tips to remember is that you should always try to make dishes which require ingredients which are currently in season. Not only will there be plenty to choose from, but you'll also find that they're all relatively cheap. Furthermore, you should also try to purchase most of your ingredients from stores which sell organic foods, in that organic food tends to have more flavor.

Admittedly you may come across certain recipes which rely on you having to use special ingredients, so if your local stores don't stock what you require, simply go and order what you need online. Nowadays there are an abundance of online gourmet food stores which usually stock everything you could possibly need, and best of all; your goods will end up being delivered to your door. In fact, you can even request that your order be gift wrapped.

As you can well imagine, giving away a gift wrapped box of gourmet food to friends and family makes for an ideal gift. Even though there are so many online gourmet food stores, you should always take certain factors into consideration before placing an order. For example, you should decide whether or not a store provides enough variety, are their food combinations practical, is the packaging presentable, are delivery times acceptable, and last of all, do you feel that they are giving you could value for your money.

The most important thing to remember is that eating healthy doesn't mean you have to eat foods which are boring at best. After all, relishes and dressings can make even the most boring foods wonderfully delicious. Furthermore, you are literally spoiled for choice in terms of the recipes which are available in order to create mouth watering dishes, even if your cooking skills are lacking. The bottom line is; if you don't have the time to prepare your own gourmet foods, then you should simply go online and buy them from one of the many online stores.
